Traditional production

This soap is made using the hot saponification process. During the final stage of production, the fresh organic donkey milk is added whilst cold. This ensures that this special ingredient remains an integral part of the final formula.

Donkey milk is sometimes referred to as ‘white gold’ and has been valued in traditional skincare for generations.

Donkey milk from a French, animal-friendly farm

The fresh organic donkey milk in this soap comes from a farm in the French Pyrenees. The animals live in pastures all year round and have access to a stable during the winter months, where they are fed organic feed.

The farm works with different groups of donkeys so that births can be spread out over time. During these periods, the foals drink all the available milk. Outside the birthing periods, a donkey produces on average around one litre of milk per day.

The selected farm pays close attention to the animals’ welfare and treats the donkeys with respect.

Sustainably produced palm oil

The base of this soap consists of saponified palm oil and palm kernel oil. As this soap is COSMOS Organic and Ecocert-certified, the palm oil and its derivatives must meet the sustainability requirements of the COSMOS standard. To this end, palm oil is sourced from a controlled and certified supply chain in accordance with the RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) guidelines. These guidelines have been developed to reduce the impact of palm oil production on nature, forests and local communities.
